Tianye Weishi: Visit Xinghaiyuan — Witness the Crafting of Premium Nets
From yesterday’s program, we learned that to produce high-quality orchard protection nets, premium raw materials must go through mixing, drying, heating, extrusion, cooling, stretching, heat treatment and winding to make qualified monofilaments. The filaments then undergo fully automatic warping, warp knitting, inspection and length measuring. Even when the protective performance meets standards, the production process is far from finished at Xinghaiyuan’s workshops. "This is a patented technology of ours. Last year, we invested 100,000 RMB in upgrading one machine, achieving a domestic industry first. Its core function is to enhance wind resistance. As you can see, we added transverse weaving for extra reinforcement. The mesh density is higher, and the tensile strength here is two to three times stronger than ordinary products. Our nets already have longitudinal reinforcement, and now the transverse reinforcing strips are set every 1.2 meters. This design brings tremendous benefits for practical orchard application." While the added transverse weaving further optimizes product performance, the next innovative technology is the core highlight that makes Xinghaiyuan nets a reliable all-round safeguard for orchards. "The most crucial equipment is the automatic fastener attaching machine. To help fruit farmers cut installation costs and improve efficiency, we jointly developed this machine with Weihai Vocational College. Installing fasteners manually is the most time-consuming part of field work. Improperly fitted, tilted or reversed fasteners will greatly compromise the performance of Orchard Multifunctional Protective Net & Accessories. Our machine pre-installs fasteners on the nets to avoid such problems. Besides, fasteners must be placed at standard intervals of 1.2 meters to ensure even stress distribution, which is strictly followed by our equipment. This automatic fastener machine leads the domestic market, and we have yet to see similar products abroad. The 1.2-meter spacing is highly precise, and the fasteners are firmly pressed by robotic arms with guaranteed stability." For over two decades, Xinghaiyuan has stayed true to its original aspiration: pursuing excellence in production, continuously upgrading technologies and developing new products to create greater value for fruit farmers and the agricultural industry. Thanks to persistent efforts, the company has been awarded multiple honors for five consecutive years, including National High-tech Enterprise, National Technology-based Small and Medium-sized Enterprise, Shandong Specialized, Refined, Differential and Innovative Enterprise, Qilu Manufacturing Brand, Shandong High-quality Product and Weihai Agricultural Technology Enterprise. "Our next major project focuses on rain shelter cultivation suitable for domestic cherries and various apple varieties. Next year, we will prioritize developing a brand-new rainproof product made of NAP composite materials and promote it nationwide." Inside Xinghaiyuan’s factory compound stands a unique display area. A manually built simulated orchard features lush green leaves and bright red fruits that remain vibrant through wind, snow and harsh weather. Here, we get an early look at the company’s new solutions tailored for rain shelter cultivation. "This is our self-developed rain shelter, mainly used for cherry orchards. Rainproof facilities are in great demand for fruits prone to fruit cracking, such as cherries, blueberries and peaches. We have created integrated electric and manual rain shelters. Traditional automatic rain shelters work well against rain but offer limited bird protection. To solve this problem, we developed an all-in-one rain and bird protection solution named 'net within net'. Compared with plastic rain shelters that need replacement every one to two years, our products have passed field tests and can last more than five years. The light transmittance is about 74%, which will not affect the photosynthesis of fruits

Tianye Weishi: A Visit to Xinghaiyuan – Witness the Making of Quality Nets
To see how premium protective nets are manufactured, there is no better way than to visit the production site in person. Let’s step into the production and R&D base of Xinghaiyuan Netting in Chucun Town, High-tech Zone. Covering a total area of 23,000 square meters, the site is largely occupied by production workshops. Amid the hum of machine tools, all production lines run in perfect order, where massive piles of high-density polyethylene raw materials are transformed into finished products. "Polyethylene boasts excellent anti-aging performance, and we only use materials that fully meet our quality standards. Besides, all raw materials require specialized anti-aging additives. We adopt products from BASF of Germany. Since our nets are used in agriculture and often exposed to pesticides, we also add self-developed acid-resistant agents to prevent the nets from being damaged by chemicals." High-performance stabilizers that deliver corrosion resistance, light resistance, UV protection as well as acid and alkali resistance fundamentally stabilize the quality of every roll of netting and greatly extend its service life. "Our products can serve for 8 to 10 years. In northern China, the service life generally reaches 10 years. In Xinjiang, where ultraviolet rays are stronger, the lifespan will be slightly shorter. This is the mixing area where all additives are blended thoroughly. The mixed materials are then drawn in by negative pressure, heated and pressurized inside the equipment, before being extruded into filaments through the die head. Freshly extruded filaments are fragile and easy to break." As we can see from the footage, the filaments are dyed in different colors for various applications. However, they still need to go through multiple technical processes before they can be widely used in agricultural production. "The key process takes place here. This set of five rollers rotates slowly at around 30 revolutions per minute. Equipped with a heating device filled with hot water, it maintains a temperature of roughly 93 degrees Celsius. The filaments then move to a section running at a much higher speed. The speed difference stretches and thins the filaments, endowing them with tensile strength." Just as steel is tempered through repeated forging, these fine filaments undergo high-temperature treatment and intense stretching to become qualified materials. "This is another critical step with the temperature set at around 100 degrees Celsius for thermal shrinkage control. Plastic materials are elastic. A net measuring 1.5 meters wide may shrink to 1.3 or 1.4 meters under high temperatures during use. To avoid such issues, we conduct thermal setting here. The rollers here run slower, creating a speed ratio of 7% to 8% to fix the shape of filaments permanently. After this process, the filaments will no longer shrink even when used outdoors." Now the entire filament extrusion process is completed. Each filament needs to achieve a perfect balance of toughness and flexibility, which directly determines the progress of subsequent production. "Then the finished filaments are wound onto rollers. Do you know how long a single continuous filament is? Generally, each one stretches about 8,000 meters as required." A total of 150 rollers work nonstop. It takes extremely long production time and great processing distance to produce a single qualified filament. "We adhere to stringent quality standards. Both domestic and export products are manufactured in line with Japanese specifications, which are among the most rigorous in the industry." With more than two decades of export experience, Xinghaiyuan keeps the breakage rate of finished filaments extremely low. Qualified filaments are then delivered to the next production stage. "This type of filament is mainly used for multifunctional protective nets and tarpaulins. The white version is widely applied in orchards. This variant is specially made for Anti-bird Net used in fruit farms. Next comes the warping process. Small filament rolls from the extrusion workshop are all wound onto large rollers to prepare for the following procedure." Countless thin filaments move continuously onto the large rollers, ready for the next production step. "We arrange the number of filaments according to the requirements of the knitting machines. We calculate the exact quantity based on the mesh specification of finished nets with our exclusive calculation methods." After precise calculation, the filaments proceed to warp knitting. "Here are the finished nets. Our self-developed equipment features automatic inspection. The indicator light will turn on, and the machine will stop and send an alarm once holes or defective parts are detected." Fully automatic warp knitting, manual inspection and length measurement are far more efficient than traditional manual work, while boosting detection accuracy and overall product quality. Thanks to its commitment to independent R&D and technological innovation, Xinghaiyuan Netting has achieved steady growth and built a solid reputation in the agricultural protection industry.

Tianye Weishi Xinghaiyuan Netting: A Reliable Shield for Orchard Disaster Prevention & Mitigation
In the golden autumn harvest season, Qianli Farm in Qingyang City, a major apple-producing area in Gansu Province, reaped a bumper harvest across thousands of mu of Ruixue apple orchards. Thanks to professional protective products including Anti-bird Net and specialized orchard supplies, the farm avoided massive economic losses amid frequent severe hailstorms this year. Meanwhile, newly built high-efficiency orchards with new apple varieties in Jixian County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, yielded their first fruits this year, brimming with joy. "In another township of Jixian County this year, there was an orchard bearing top-quality apples. Unfortunately, a severe hailstorm hit the farm, damaging nearly one-third of the fruits. The apples were originally expected to sell for no less than 4.5 yuan per jin, yet the price dropped to under 3 yuan in the end, resulting in huge losses. The orchard produced around 400,000 jin of apples. Even calculating a loss of just 1 yuan per jin, the total loss reached 400,000 yuan. This fully proves that high-quality Agricultural Net and related protective products play an enormous role in safeguarding orchard profits." As a national pacesetter in the development of modern fruit farming, Weihai has accumulated rich and successful experience in orchard disaster prevention and mitigation among numerous local orchards. Our product range covers multiple categories, from Fishing Net for aquaculture, Construction Safety Net for engineering protection to practical Household Net for daily use, catering to diverse market demands. "Our apple trees are in their second year of fruiting and still in the young tree stage. We were deeply concerned that late spring frosts would affect fruit set. Therefore, we set up protective nets early in spring. When sudden temperature drops occur in spring, the temperature under the nets stays about 1°C higher than the outside environment, effectively improving the microclimate. Do not underestimate this small temperature rise — it guarantees stable fruit set and greatly reduces fruit russeting." These three apple planting bases thousands of miles apart were once unrelated to one another, yet they are now closely connected by a single type of netting. The manufacturer behind this protective "armor" that safeguards orchard harvests is Xinghaiyuan Netting, a local enterprise based in Weihai. Our flagship product, Orchard Multifunctional Protective Net & Accessories, has become the most trusted choice for fruit growers nationwide. "We successfully completed all production tasks in 2024 and achieved new progress in domestic market promotion. Throughout the year, our multi-functional protective products and supporting accessories for fruit farm disaster prevention and mitigation covered an area of over 200,000 square meters nationwide. Our products are mainly applied in standardized orchards for apples, pears, peaches, blueberries, strawberries and sweet cherries. In recent years, especially this year, we have promoted our products on a large scale in standardized orchards across Shandong, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Yunnan and Xinjiang, and the feedback on application performance has been highly positive." Behind these remarkable achievements lies decades of persistent exploration by Li Wei, founder of Xinghaiyuan, and his R&D and technical team. Founded in 2001, the company initially focused heavily on export business. Though its staff were thoroughly familiar with foreign agricultural net products, they saw room for improvement. After three years of dedicated technological research, they developed the multi-functional protective net capable of defending against birds, strong winds, hailstorms, frosts and sunscald. "Starting from 2015, as standardized apple cultivation took off across China, we introduced our overseas-proven products and experience to the domestic market. Since then, our multi-functional protective nets have been deployed in more than 1.2 million mu of standardized orchards in Shaanxi, Gansu, Xinjiang, Shandong and Shanxi provinces, receiving consistently favorable feedback." Li Wei noted that despite the absence of official national standards for agricultural netting in China, the company has never lowered its quality requirements — instead, it has set even stricter criteria. A dedicated display area for orchard protective nets within the factory fully demonstrates this commitment. "We built this display area not only to showcase product effects for visitors, but more importantly, to collect real operational data. We guarantee a 10-year service life for our products. While lab tests have verified this lifespan, we want to gather firsthand field data. These nets have been placed here for eight years, exposed to sunlight all year round without being taken down. So far, their tensile strength has only slightly declined and remains fully functional. We will keep monitoring them until they are no longer usable, so as to confirm their actual service life. This is where our confidence comes from." This versatile orchard net can be freely opened and closed according to different growth stages of fruit trees. It keeps pests such as green plant bugs, peach fruit borers and pear fruit borers away during the young fruit period, while ensuring unobstructed ventilation and light transmission when fruits ripen and change color. After years of technological breakthroughs, the Xinghaiyuan team can customize protective nets based on regional conditions, fruit tree varieties and orchard sizes, delivering tailor-made solutions for clients. We have obtained 4 invention patents and over 60 utility model patents at home and abroad. Our next focus is to develop rain shelter cultivation solutions suitable for domestic cherries and apple varieties. Next year, we will launch a brand-new product made of NAP composite materials specially designed for rain protection. Devotion breeds professionalism. Xinghaiyuan’s original aspiration is to help fruit farmers achieve long-term orchard protection with minimal investment. It is this sense of responsibility and mission that has driven the company to grow steadily. "In business operation, we aim to grow stronger rather than bigger, and to pursue refinement rather than diversification. This will be our core development principle going forward. We will do our utmost to fulfill our social responsibility and contribute to the advancement of protected agriculture in China."
